No.: Enlargement of the prostate is usually a benign condition, called BPH or benign prostatic hyperplasia. Prostate cancer may present with enlargement, but it is often an infiltrative process that first spreads within the prostate gland and may later produce nodules that can be felt by rectal exam. Although both conditions are very common, one does not necessarily indicate the other.

NO: An enlarged prostate has nothing to do with prostate cancer. Prostate enlargement may lead to urinary problems, but the size of the prostate may not correlate with symptoms either.

No: Symmetric enlargement is not suggestive of prostate cancer, but rather it suggest bph, and may be associated with lower urinary tract symptoms. Prostate cancer is suspect in patient who have a nodular or asymmetric prostate and/ or a elevated psa. These patients usually have no urinary symptoms related to the cancer unless the disease is picked up in the late stages.
