Keep stool soft: You can't always avoid hemorrhoids. But you can decrease the chance of developing them and limit their size by keeping your stool soft with lots of fluid and fiber. Also, don't strain with bowel movements.

FLUIDS!!: Throughout your pregnancy drink plenty of non caffeinated, non alcoholic fluids, 80-100 ounces per day and adjust for excercise and meds that cause constipation by drinking more fluids. Also during breast feeding your fluid needs increase, don't read on the toilet, and avoidd straining, constipation, and diarrhea. Do not sit on those inflatable donut rings! they will make the swelling/ pain worse.
