A member asked:

I had a case of gross, painless hematuria a few weeks ago. my doc said it wasn't a uti because i didn't have proper symptoms of it. the bleeding lasted for about 5 days. what could the outcome have been? or was it just a harmless case?

Hematuria: Is never good. This could be anything from a renal stone, tuberculosis, cancer, and so on. You should be seen asap by a urologist and thoroughly evaluated to ascertain the source from which this occurred. This should not be ignored. Please see someone soon and hope you have nothing serious.

Uti vs stone: This could have been a UTI but since it resolved on its own it also could have been related to a kidney stone. Definitely follow up with your md if it recurs.
