Probable stye: The most common lid swelling condition is a stye, an infected secretory gland in the lid. Sometimes you can see the gland involved as a whitish swelling at the lid margin. Try applying hot washcloth soaks (very warm but not hot) for 4 minutes at a time 5 times per day. If persistent more than 3-4 days, see your ophthalmologist to eliminate other conditions.
