Variable: During pregnancy the main drug is considered a category c drug :i animal studies show negative effect but not enough long term human studies are available to verify effect. Smaller head size by adulthood is consistently found.The drug slows the production of prolactin that stimulates milk production & is considered contraindicated in breastfeeding.Passive exposure has the same negatives as smoking.

Prematurity: Recent reports indicate an increased incidence of prematurity in fetuses exposed to mj. Also, there are reports of chromosomal breakage in some infants born to mj users. Being pregnant and smoking anything is an insult to the baby, and irresponsible on the mother's part.
