Follow-up: If you OB says that this is normal, then continue follow-up with them. Your cervix normally elongates during pregnancy and a mucous plug forms. This is to help contain the pregnancy within the uterus and act as a barrier from outside sources of infection. As you near your delivery, the cervix reverts to thinner form and begins to dilate.
