Some possibilities: One who keeps smelling exhaust fumes, as a new symptom, can look into several possibilities. A primary care doctor can evaluate, and then an ENT doctor and a neurologist can help. Possibilities include the real presence of exhaust fumes or burning material (fire hazard!), other chemicals with that odor, sinus problems or infections, hypersensitive odor receptors or other neurologic problems, etc..
