Treat it: Symptoms of urgency, frequency and burning with the urinary nitrites and leukocytes should be treated. Such infections sometimes do not yield a culture because the specimen was taken after you took the antibiotics or specimen was not collected or transported properly. Symptomatic urinary tract infection should be treated.

I had a urine culture done. Showed no infection. Nitrates are neg but leukocytes pos. I have all the classic symptoms of a uti. I'm on antibiotics but still feel pain. Urgency, freq, pain, etc.
Why do I still have nitrates and leukocytes on my urine dipstick when the urine culture is negative?
My dip stick urine test showed trace of blood. It was sent to lab and it came back flagged bacteria (few), blood (small), mucous (moderate), leukocytes esterase Neg, nitrate neg, PH 5, protein neg, wbcs, urobilinogen all normal. Should I be worried?
