A member asked:

My dad underwent angioplasty and he has had two stints put into his heart. the problem is that he drinks alcohol like rum, etc once a week or so. help?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Dont worry: Actually alcohol in moderation defined as 2 drinks or less a day is healthy for the heart. However, binge drinking can be as dangerous as well. This is usaually defined as drinking more than 5 drinks in one sitting a week. Loving and caring advice and not critisizm works the best as well as providing him education on the effects of alcohol taken the wrong way can help a lot.
