Inspect site: Post cath site should have minimal bruising in most cases and no bleeding or drainage. While a small lump might be present for a few days (collection of dried blood/inflammation in the surrounding tissues), this should dissipate gradually. More extensive bruising or a pulsatile hematoma makes us think of a pseudoanneurysm, and a persistent thrill (purr) with palpation an a-v fistula.
