Several reasons: Spleen is an organ tucked under your left lower rib cage. It filters blood, removing broken cell products. Reasons for calcifications are mulitple, break out into 3 main categories; infection, trauma, and cancer. Most calcification problems are benign or can be treated medically. Occasionally the spleen should be removed at surgery. Your primary doc can advise you on tests, results and referrals.
