It depends: If your dose is low than you can go straight onto it. However, if you are using more than 60 mg., than it could be extremely difficult to make this change in a week no matter what protocol is used.

UNLIKELY: Most likely cannot do this has the amount of time it takes for Methadone to clear your system will be more than a week unless dose is very low. The problem is that the Suboxone will put you into withdrawal if you are not already clear of the methadone. Feels really bad. That said i think that Suboxone is a terrific treatment better and easier than methadone. Hag in there and good luck!

Some guidelines: You should not try this on your own, rather, you need an experienced practitioner to help make the switch. It can be quite tricky. The guidelines are to be on 30 mgs of Methadone or less for at least one week, then completely off Methadone for at least another week. The Methadone remains in one's system for three weeks, so the Suboxone needs to be started at a low dose and increased very slowly.
