Recent change ?: Fluid retention and loss of fluid with menstrual cycling is not that unusual. However a three month cycle is not considered normal, unless that is normal for you. I would recommend evaluation by an ob/gyn to determine if you are approaching menopause or if other factors evaluated.

Yes: When you have a period, there are several hormones that are released which allow the uterus to be able to be impregnated, if the occasion arises. This not only afffects the uterus, but also the entire body, so retaining fluid is a normal occurance, also the loss of fluid is also normal when the period is over.
