What's the difference between artificial and real saliva?

Saliva differences: It's very simple real saliva is produced by salivary glands throughout the oral cavity. Artificial saliva is a substitute that is produced that is used when the body can't produce saliva. Usually this happens do to side effects to certain medications, patients undergoing radiation treatments, certain autoimmune diseases to name a few causes. There are a variety of products to aid as substitutes.

One is in a bottle: Artificial saliva is a mixture that is thick enough to coat your mouth & stop it from drying out for a while. People with dry mouth need it. It does not have many of the cavity fighting stuff real saliva has, but may have others.
