How are hip fractures diagnosed in er if you are in pain?

PE and XR: Maybe mri, however this is usually not needed. Some may get ct but also not needed for DX usually, but can help plan surgery.

Xray: A simple x-ray will detect 90% or more of these injuries. If hip pain is there and x-ray is negative, the next step is ct scan or mri.
