Many things!: An osteoportic hip fracture can be lethal, especially for women. It causes death in almost as many women who die from breast cancer. Osteoporosis is preventable. Once a hip fracture occurs, plating and pinning will usually occur, or a hip replacement, depnding on fracture location.
