Not specifically: The first few days after surgery, it is best to eat light and smaller foods. Pain medications may cause constipation that can be treated by a mild laxative. There should be no specific foods to avoid. It also depends on what type of hernia surgery you are having and where the hernia is located. Also drink plenty of liquids early after surgery.

No: You should be able to resume a normal, healthy diet. If you had groin or abdominal wall hernia repair, then you can eat a diet higher in fiber while drinking plenty of water to help keep your bowel movements regular and soft so that you don't strain. This is usefulness early in the recovery period to reduce pain while having a bowel movement.
