Melanoma: Melanoma is the most aggressive type of skin cancer, arising from the pigment cells of the skin. When caught early, the chance for cure is high; however, once it has spread, it is very difficult to cure.

Melanoma mets early: Melanoma is the most dangerous skin cancer because it will metastasize (spread to lymph nodes or distant sites on the body) much earlier and at a much smaller size than most other skin cancers. Early detection is the key to survival for melanoma. Squamous cell cancer can metastasize, but usually only once it is relatively large. Basal cell carcinoma almost never metastasizes. Best wishes.
