A member asked:

If an ecg shows that i have old inferior infarction, can the abnormality on the ecg be from mitral valve repair?

Not usually: Their are no real post mitral valve repair ECG changes that are related to the surgery. Their are people who have mvr and have an inferior mi pre op or have suffered one post op though.

Not likely: It's a possibility, but not very likely that an artery can be injured during a mitral valve repair. Comparing ecg's preoperative to postoperative could shed some light on this, but to really determine the cause of any change would require a coronary angiogram.
