What is best for you: Hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis are both effective, and both have pros and cons. Hemodialysis is generally done at a dialysis center three times a week and requires "access" into the blood stream, a fistula is preferred. Peritoneal dialysis is done at home through a catheter (tube) inserted into the abdominal cavity. You should discuss with your nephrologist what is best for you.

Whichever works 4 u: Sometimes your choices can be limited by finances or availability. The medical studies vary and experts argue over the 'best'. There are pluses and minuses to all the renal replacement therapies: hemodialysis in center, hemodialysis at home, peritoneal dialysis, transplant. My opinion for my patients is the best solution is the one that works the best for you, your health, and your lifestyle.
