Same as smoking: Second hand smoke is classified as a "known human carcinogen" and thus causes similar damage as first hand smoke.

Less but enough: Second hand smoke has not been shown to give you lung cancer, but it does have significant effects. It will double your frequency of respiratory illnesses & leave a lingering odor on your hair/clothes. It is something you can try to avoid, but is not as deadly as some would have you believe.

Can cause cancer: Second hand smoke (SHS) can cause cancer according to the American Cancer Society https://www.cancer.org/cancer/cancer-causes/tobacco-and-cancer/secondhand-smoke.html Second hand smoke is also an irritant and can exacerbate asthma. SHS can make one more susceptible to pneumonia and bronchitis.
