How to tell the diference between cold and adenovirus 14?

Doesn't matter: Adenoviruses are a common strain of cold virus which in particular cause sore throats. In the time frame a diagnosis is made it is not feasible or medically helpful usually to figure out which strain is causing a cold.Adenovirus 14 is a particularly nasty strain of cold virus but also rather rare. If you are very sick, having a hard time breathing or quite weak, see a doctor no matter what strain.

Lab Tests: There are lab tests that usually can identify the specific virus, but symptomatically, all therapies for these things are generally the same, so identifying usually does not matter.
