Adenovirus: This is a type of virus that prefers to live in mucus surface tissue on the human body. Some upper respiratory infections are caused by these viruses which are spread by contact or sneezing. The eye is a common site of infection causing the notorious "pink eye". There are no direct anti-viral agents so care is supportive, relieving symptoms and trying to prevent spread.
