Hair Transplants: Hair transplants work by moving excess hair follicles from the back of the scalp where they are more resistant to the effects of testosterone to the front. In the past they were transplanted in plugs which gave the appearance of rows of corn but now individual follicle grafts are taken. Cost varies with practitioner. At one time people were charging $60k but now it usually runs $3-5/graft $5-10k.

Many techniques: Hair replacement can be accomplished with hairpieces ( wigs), hair rearrangement, topical medications or systemic hormone alteration, flaps or grafts. Currently the practice if transferring a single or a few hair follicles is very popular (fue) and produce excellent results. Cost are typically charged per hair unit transferred with reductions for larger grafts.
