Tell the truth: Society rightly worries about violence against women / intimate partner violence / child abuse. This leads to bogus accusations and investigations, some far more unrealistic than yours. Simply tell the truth and be consistent. If you ARE being roughed-up by this guy, and you don't like it, then take appropriate action -- ask him to stop, and if it doesn't, get out of the relationship.
