Quad screen: The triple or quad screen is a blood test that measures 3 (triple) or 4 (quad) chemicals in the mother's blood to determine if there is an increased risk of Down syndrome (trisomy 21), a condition called trisomy 18, or a neural tube defect.

? shot/blood draw ?: There are screening blood draw tests they can do on maternal blood for chemicals suggestive of DS.There is a more definitive blood draw test they do that finds fetal cells in mothers blood and can look for DS or other chromosome defects (NIPP) .There is a "shot" into your pregnant belly @ 16 wks where they draw off fluid and do a chromosome study for DS (amniocentesis)
