Serotonin reuptake : Most of the serotonin reuptake inhibitors are very helpful for anxiety as well. I have found Lexapro to be very effective. There is another medicine called Buspar (buspirone) that also works for anxiety and may be beneficial. Talk to your doctor about which one would be best for you.

To determine the best option for you, please see your psychiatrist and discuss the problem you're experiencing. Please also know also that psychotherapy is an important part of treatment for social anxiety -- that is how you can gradually become more comfortable in social situations.
