Treatment for cancer: It is generally not cancers that cause neutropenia but the treatment for cancers, especially chemotherapy that suppresses the bone marrow and causes, anemia, low platelets and low white blood cell counts.

Leukemia...: Any cancer that impairs the ability of the bone marrow to produce normal cells, like neutrophils, can cause neutropenia. Leukemias are the most common cause since the cancer actually originates in the bone marrow itself. Other less common causes of neutropenia are cancers that metastasize to the bone marrow.
