A member asked:

Is exposure to someone vaccinated with the shingles vaccine harmful to babies?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Just say no: The shingles vaccine uses a live virus, so it can shed, causing them to possibly get chickenpox from you. Merck says at http://www.Merck.Com/product/usa/pi_circ… "transmission of vaccine virus may occur rarely between vacinees and susceptible contacts" babies are just developing their immunity, so they may be at more risk. The disease is usually better tolerated in kids though.
