Take your time: It takes time to recover from surgery. Start with light exercise (walking), then progress as tolerated. If you rush it, the discomfort you feel will stop you from advancing. Eventually, you should be at full strength and speed.

You can: Ultimately, depends on your overall health before surgery and what type of procedure you had. Two of the most important things you can do are slow, steady deep breathing (i.e. Pyrometer) and steady walking. If you are a smoker, best thing to do is stop. Please discuss with your surgeon his/her guidelines and expectations for post-op activities.
