Connected: It is very common for individuals when anxious to experience gastrointestinal symptoms including nausea. The wiring between the brain and the gut is quite complex and bidirectional. Thus the gut influences the brain and the brain the gut. One example is when acutely anxious/feeling threatened blood flow is diverted away from the GI tract as it is needed to elsewhere to let us fight/flee.
