What are the stages of colon cancer?

1 through 4: The stage of colon cancer is based upon the depth of penetration of the cancer thru the colon wall, the presence or absence of lymph node involvement, and the presence of cancer elsewhere in the body (metastatic disease). The stage is associated with prognosis and guides our recommendations regarding chemotherapy.
