Surgery: After diagnosis and workup, surgery is the first step. After surgery, the specimen will be examined to determine lymph node involvement and depth of invasion into the wall of the colon. If no lymph nodes are involved, treatments can range from observation to chemotherapy depending on other factors and health of patient.
