A member asked:

What are the symptoms of intestinal blockage?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Pain and distension: Usually, there is crampy pain, abdominal distension, nausea and vomiting, and no passage of gas or stool after 12-24 hours. Intestinal obstruction is most common after someone has had other abdominal surgery. During the healing process, scar tissue (called adhesions) forms, which can catch loops of small intestine and cause blockages.
