How long does we have to wait before you have surgery with the intestinal blockage?

Not long: Intestinal blockage can be life threatening. Your health care team will care for you in a hospital, with intravenous lines and fluids, bowel rest, tubes into your stomach to control gastric volume and lower your risk for aspiration. Surgery will occur at some time during your hospital stay. Okay to ask your nurse or surgeon for more details. Pain control with IV narcotics and antibiotics. Be well
