Two phase lip care: Chapped lips untreated can lead to scarring. Moisture is needed in the lips to prevent drying from wind and sun. Severe chapping is usually caused by trying to moisten lips with saliva. Saliva has digestive protien enzymes that will attack the lips. Treat in two steps. Moisten with water, pat dry with a tissue. Apply vasoline with a cotton swab. In 5 minutes pat off excess. Apply lip baum.Bid.

Tx: Chapped lips? Hydrate well- water is best. You can apply lip balms with beeswax base or oil base creams. Remember that lips require solar protection just like your skin – apply & reapply balms or creams with a minimum spf of 15. Going skiing ?- protect from sun & windburn by covering with a scarf or a ski / snowboard face mask with visor. Dry air- use a humidifier. Try not to lick lips.

Chapped lips: First, avoid the tendency to lick your lips, as this will make it worse. Remember, too, that most lipstick wont help either. Then try your favorite lip balm. There are quite a few. One if the most effective is vaseline. The only problem is that it requires frequent application. Other options include chapstick, blistex and carmex. There are others, but these all have excellent proven results.

Many things: First (and most difficult) is to stop licking them. You may think you are not but you may be very surprised. Often a vaseline type cover will help protect your lips and allow them to resolve. However, it is always possible that you have become sensitive to something you have already been using. Keep it simple if you don't get better you should see a dermatologist.

Peeling lips: There are several reasons to have peeling lips. Irritation or allergy from lip balms or lipstick is common. Avoid these products until resolved. 1% Hydrocortisone ointment two to four times daily often works within 7 to 10 days. If not, seek medical attention. Precancerous and cancers can cause localized scaling.

Skin care: First, try to avoid mouth breathing. This is very common during pollen season when everyone suffers from sinus issues. Next, get a good moisturizing lip balm with a sunscreen added to prevent sun damage and hold in moisture. Lastly, try not to bite or chew on your lips.
