Excision: Adhesions may be separated or lysed as well as excised and removed. For abdominal cavity adhesions, frequently this can be done with laparoscopy or robotic assisted surgery.

Observe: All surgical procedures in the abdomen create adhesions. Mostly adhesion are observed unless they are causing intestinal obstruction. Each subsequent operation results in further adhesion formation and increases risks of intestinal obstructions.
