What type of dentist should you see for a tooth abscess?

General: Any general dentist should be able to help you with that care however an abcess mean you will either need the tooth removed or a root canal and crown so you may need to see an oral surgeon or endodontist as well. 1st stop, general dentist for at least antibiotic and pain med. Good luck.

One with a license: See your general dentist who usually provides care for you. If he or she feels you need to see a specialist, you can be referred to the appropriate specialist for definitive treatment.
