Depends: There are many ways to get rid of head lice, some chemical and some physical. The physical methods usually include someway of suffocating the lice with a physical agent. People have used many home remedies - some with success and there are other physical agents like cetaphil. Chemical agents include otc meds - pyrethrins, permethrins and prescriptions - malathion, benzyl alcohol and others.
