May require RX: Head lice are more common than most would care to admit. If you have already attempted otc medication, and the infestation continues, it may be time to consult a physician for a stronger prescription medication. Certainly useful is the meticulous removal of nits with a metal (not plastic) comb (brand name licemeister comb gets the best reviews). All family members should be treated at same time.

Lice remedies: Natural remedies for lice include the application of olive oil, petroleum jelly, mineral oil or mayonnaise to the head/ hair. These oil-based products smother the louse. However, there is no research to demonstrate treatment efficacy.
