I have had a great deal of tension in my pelvic floor for years. my pelvic exams and pap smears are normal. what might cause this ongoing discomfort?

Muscle imbalance: Not uncommon:pelvic floor muscle imbalance; +/- paradoxical spasm/contraction when relaxation should occur, vice versa. Can be rel. Extl (vaginismus), or intl. Can be assoc w/ dropped bladder and/or rectum commonly associated with pregnancy, pelvic surgery, e.g. Hysterectomy, internal hernias, ; some can be assoc with history of abuse. May be related to bowel issues. Physical and radiol/sono tests.
