Pinched vein.: Nutcracker syndrome (ncs) is caused by a compression of the left renal vein between the aorta and the superior mesenteric artery. This pinching raises venous pressure on the left side and can lead to high venous pressure in the renal pelvis, ureter, and gonadal vein. Those can cause discomfort as well.

Nutcracker syndrome: This is a reference to pelvic vein reflux, where veins of the pelvic area, notably of the ovary reflux and cause varices in the genital area, and very often in the lower extremities. It is also known as pelvic congestion syndrome.
