Why is duxil not approved for use in the us? it's also known as almitrine.

Was it requested?: Almitrine (marketed as duxil) enhances respiration and increases arterial oxygen while decreasing arterial carbon dioxide in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Some meds are not approved by the fda for a variety of reasons. Other times, companies don't ask for approval because it is complex and expensive to do, especially if there may be possible side effects such as neuropathy.
