Was it requested?: Almitrine (marketed as duxil) enhances respiration and increases arterial oxygen while decreasing arterial carbon dioxide in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Some meds are not approved by the fda for a variety of reasons. Other times, companies don't ask for approval because it is complex and expensive to do, especially if there may be possible side effects such as neuropathy.

Review process: Accually duxil is a mixture of two drugs - almitrine and raubasine. Use as a respiratory stimulant in COPD patients leading to increase of oxygen and drop in carbon dioxide in the blood. Also used for chronic cerebrovascular insufficiency. This drug is use mostly in china and vietnam. It was pull from markets ( egypt, france) due to side effects including peripheral neuropathy.
