Depends on symptoms: Individuals with autistic disorders have a higher incidence of mental illnesses (e.g., adhd, anxiety, depression) than the neurotypical population. Social skills deficits may be misinterpreted as non-compliance (not doing what you"re told when you're told), ) rudeness, or disinterest. Identify and treat ( with medication &/or therapy) the symptoms that are causing the individual with ad harm.

Many: Social skills training is available and is often offered in a group setting from speech pathologists. A person with autism can learn and practice how to read social cues and how to respond in appropriate ways to certain social situations. If sensory issues are involved many people can get help from a good occupational therapist through sensory integration. Sometimes counseling can also be of help.
