Locate Autism Center: Have your son evaluated by a neurodevelopmental center. Autism centers of excellence are located at many us universities. Search the web. These experts identify methods (usually visual) that help communication. Many centers have specific adult programs. Local branches of arc or autism speaks may provide support and resources for you as you plan your son's future. Doing this alone is very hard.

Start by making sure: That he has the funding & services he needs: ssi, medicaid, adult health & mental health services, exercise, etc i agree with a team evaluation at a specialty clinic, with neuropsychological testing, medical & neurological assessment, a genetic microarray & dna probe for fragile x (if never done), hearing & vision. Ipads are useful to teach non-verbal communication, but good therapists are key.
