Variable!: Long acting steroids taken orally will have the greatest cumulative side effects. So, Prednisone would be better than dexamethasone, if given orally. But my approach is to give steroids by giving then IV in large doses, 3x/wk. Response is quite good in a number of studies. This allows me the latitude to use the lowest daily dose after pulsing." but ho-q is the best background maintenance drug.
