About 10 years: In the days before we had effective treatment, the average time from infection to aids was 10 years. Many people progressed faster, and many slower. Now that we have good treatment, no one is supposed to develop aids, because treatment should be started long before you reach that stage.

Varies: Everyone is different. Sometimes it happens withing a year or two and in other cases it takes many years. However, if you get on proper medications once you have an HIV diagnosis, there is a good chance of never developing full blown AIDS.
