Depends: Urinary tract infections (UTI) should be diagnosed by a health care professional. Uti is a generic term that can refer to infections anywhere in the urinary tract. However, most people use the term UTI to refer to infection of the bladder only. Bladder infections usually require antibiotics, but if it is an early infection, frequent urination (aided by increased fluid intake) might suffice.
