Depends: If you mean aphasia from stroke, it depends on severity and pt age. Younger brain, more plastic, better able to reorganize, milder aphasia, better recovery. Global aphasia, elderly pt, prognosis is poor. Lots of speech therapy. Some drugs have shown possible benefit but as far as i know, none has been accepted as routinely recommended by rehab specialists. Progressive aphasia is another story.
