Braces age: Each individual is unique and so are their needs so it depends on the person and what is happening with tooth and jaw development. The american association of orthodontist recommends an evaluation by age 7. Most kids this age don't need anything done; however, this last week i had two 7 year olds come into my office who do need treatment because of severe crowding.

Depends on Dx: Depending on the diagnosis of your child's individual problem, a qualified orthodontic specialist will present a rx-plan individualized to your child's needs. Take your child for 1st orthodontic exam as a 7th birthday present. Listen carefully to what the orthodontist tells you, and make an informed decision. 2 classmates, best friends, 1 is ready for rx at 10, the other not until 13.
